March 1, 2013 – Mendocino County Schools

An interview with Paul Tichinin, Mendocino County Superintendent of Schools, and Paul Joens Poulson, Assistant Superintendent. Four weeks ago, we talked with state representatives about the implementation of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and associated testing. On this program, we’re going to focus on Mendocino County’s schools: how they are doing regarding existing standards (e.g. No Child Left Behind) and where they stand regarding making adequate yearly progress towards meeting existing standards; how the implementation of CCSS is going, and what the plans are for implementing new testing regimes. We’ll also discuss basic information about how schools are operated and funded in Mendocino County, and touch on such aspects as charter schools.
